Is CBD Good For You?

It seems that there is a new craze going on that includes CBD for health. This is not surprising given the growing acceptance of natural medicines and alternative treatments. It should be noted that this latest craze does not make any serious claims and while there are certainly some interesting theories, none of them are backed up with solid science. It is important to keep that in mind when deciding whether to include this as a treatment for your condition or whether it is simply another “fad”.

The latest research suggests that CBD Lube may have an anti-inflammatory effect. While there are other types of inflammatory diseases such as arthritis that are treated with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), these are used for short term relief of symptoms. For many years, NSAIDs have been associated with gastrointestinal problems and other issues. It should be noted that these drugs are also used to treat depression and Parkinson’s disease and while they do help relieve symptoms of these conditions, long term use may result in problems of their own.

The latest study suggests that CBD may be helpful in reducing both depression and anxiety symptoms. The most common symptom of anxiety disorders is panic attacks. These can be very intense episodes that can occur several times per week, if not every day. They can cause extreme and rapid reactions in individuals and often strike without warning. Unfortunately, this type of condition often leads to suicide attempts and symptoms of intense fear and panic in patients.

It is important to note that there was no indication in the current study that CBD can help reduce symptoms of schizophrenia or post-traumatic stress disorder. However, it was found that there was a reduction in the number of panic attacks among those subjects who took part in the study. It is important to realize that these subjects were not suffering from these mental health conditions and simply had enough energy to participate in the study. In addition, these subjects were required to take two capsules twice per day. It is important to note that the subjects in this particular study were all healthy adults who were working on a cognitive task requiring attention to detail.

Based on these results, it is likely that CBD could be useful in treating anxiety and other mental health conditions, especially insomnia. However, there are some limitations to the current study. The researchers administered the placebo only once, during which time the subjects did not show an increase in mood or symptoms of either depression or anxiety. This is a limitation of the study and should be considered when deciding whether CBD is a viable treatment option for a range of conditions.

For those interested in investigating CBD for health benefits, it is important to remember that this study was performed on people with only mild symptoms of depression and anxiety. People with more serious mental health conditions, including psychosis, schizophrenia and post-traumatic stress disorder, may require a different approach. While CBD may work well in alleviating symptoms of these conditions, it may be better adapted as a component of an overall treatment program for these patients. The study has been published in the Journal of Human Psychopharmacology.
